Cow’s Milk Allergy

That reaffirms what we’ve been thinking all along. Many mummies ask me why their baby has eczema and I always narrow it down to the following:

1) Hereditary: If it’s in their genes, they’d likely to inherit the eczema.
2) Dietary: It does appear that this cow’s milk allergy, CMA, is much more common than we’d expect, affecting nearly one in twenty babies. Perhaps, I’m just guessing, that’s why most children with eczema “grow out” of it eventually, when they stop taking cow’s milk so regularly? CMA even affects breastmilk if mummy consumes dairy products, it’s that serious!
3) Damaged Skin Barrier: Our skin functions to prevent moisture loss and when the barrier is damaged, skin gets dry and cracks, allowing germs and bacteria to enter and cause inflammation. This is usually aggravated by harsh chemicals in products and, a tell-tale sign would be baby has rash patches everywhere, but nappy area is clear and smooth (due to moist environment). [Inserting shameless plug] This condition can be usually be improved by using our products. Hee. Hey, many babies can attest to that!

Maybe that’s why, only a small handful of babies have severe eczema that does not respond to our products. I’m just guessing, could it be cow’s milk allergy? After all, 1 in 20 babies suffer from it.

I think we’re starting to understand this eczema monster a little better, although there’s still many questions left unanswered. Any thoughts?
